About Sweet Home Farmers’ Market

Mission

The mission of the Sweet Home Farmers’ Market is to facilitate the provision of healthy, locally-grown fresh foods and horticultural products to all residents of Sweet Home and surrounding areas, to diversify, strengthen, and make more resilient the economy of the Sweet Home area, and to enrich the Sweet Home area’s uniqueness and charm. Producers and vendors of locally-grown produce and value-added food items will find a supportive outlet for the sale of their goods.

You can find us at the Thriftway parking lot in Sweet Home on Saturdays from May 8th through October between the from 10:00 in the morning until 2:00 in the afternoon. Our outdoor market is open rain or shine.

History

The Sweet Home Farmers Market was started in 2007 by a tiny group of farmers and local food producers who wanted to support local farmers and their Sweet Home community and to give consumers access to locally grown ingredients. Since that time the market has grown into a core group of approximately 10 to 12 vendors. In late 2009 we we able to accept Senior and WIC coupons. We also accept Oregon Trail (food stamp) cards. In March of 2010 we were granted approval as a 501C non-profit organization, a major milestone. We also received several grants which will allow us to both promote the market and to offer expanded educational events for our market customers. We have a history of offering music at every market and we will continue that tradition this year, offering performances by talented local musicians.
